Therapeutic Gardens
In cities a problem is growing and being ignored more than ever, this is the problem of homelessness.
Since budget cuts more and more homeless are sleeping rough on streets and parks. We walk past the rough sleeper‟s every day, on our commutes and many other encounters we may have. There is a bad impression we have of these people.
According to studies “urban living was found to raise the risk of anxiety disorders and mood disorders by 21% and 39% respectively.” (Benedictus. L, Sick Cities: Why urban living can be bad for your mental health. Guardian. (25/02/2014)). Although this was the main aim the scheme gravitated to functioning the opposite way.

The „Lost in-between-rehabilitation gardens‟ aims to create a community support network between those who have been sleeping rough for time, and would like to earn a living into a stable life. The programme will help integrate these people back into the system and into a stable life by providing work, therapeutic activities to address depression and mental wellbeing.

I believe that the architecture changes the perception of the people in mind. This design will benefit the homeless of the city of London and also those neighbouring by and the city itself.
